Polyethylene (PE) Minicel is an extremely fine-celled, chemically cross-linked closed cell foam which is strong and resilient with a smooth finish. Ideally suited as the material or a component material in shock absorbing products, this closed-cell foam padding is also a great way to dampen the effects of vibration. Closed cell polethylene foam has a variety of common applications in furniture, automotive, marine and many other industries.
PE foam has better thermal properties and is generally firmer than than its EVA equivalent making it a popular choice where hardness and cost-effectiveness is most important. PE's low thermal conductivity gives it excellent heat resistance, making it a good insulating material for walls, ceilings and roofs.
PE foams have a variety of applications ranging from sports equipment and packaging to soundproofing and insulation. Polyethylene foam remains the choice material for applications that put a premium on cost-effectiveness over durability. Examples of these include packaging, carpet underlays, luggage lining, car door panels and car seats.
